Assistive Technology
What stood out to me this week was the assistive technology,
specifically the Center on Technology and Disability. I enjoyed learning about
the wealth of resources this particular program offers. I can truly appreciate the services that are
available to teachers and students.
Working with so many special needs students, I do know how difficult it
can be for a student with a disability to navigate the daily routine of a
classroom. Or even feel confident enough
to be able to comprehend and even retain the information that is being taught
to them, like their peers who do not struggle with a disability.
I love the principles behind the Center on Technology and
Disability. I think it is great how they
are willing to train educators.
Educators need to keep up with the advancements in education that are happening
every single day. I appreciate how the Center
on Technology and Disability sets educators up for success with their students
to maximize learning in their classrooms.
This can be especially hard for teachers who often struggle with having
to teach a classroom where differentiated instruction is a must.
I also find it interesting that the Center on Technology and
Disability does not just stop at helping students and teachers. They are even empowering individuals on an administrative
level. So many schools are not as
fortunate as others when it comes to being able to provide their students with
all of the most up to date technology that is out there today. I feel very blessed that the school that I
work is able to provide our students with smartboards, i-pads, and even
communication devices. This is something
that I believe is a non-negotiable when it comes to our diverse-learner
students. I can see how much of a
difference it makes for our diverse learner students.
